About Futures
Kopila Valley Sewa Samaj strives to change the lives of youth in Surkhet, Nepal through our Kopila Valley School (KVS) and the Futures Program. In Nepal, the school system is structured similar to the UK. Our school includes Early Childhood (nursery- grade 1), Primary (2-5), Lower Secondary (6-8), Upper Secondary (9-10). After grade 10, students complete a government examination (SEE). This is considered completing a basic education. However, at KVS, we encourage our students to continue their education, enrolling into a Plus 2 (+2) or vocation program for their final courses prior to beginning University. KVS operates a +2 Management school on our green sustainable campus. Other students enroll into +2 programs like science, teaching, ayurvedic medicine, veterinary, dental, hotel management, etc.
Navigating school choices requires communication and counsel to our students. As most of our students have unstable family dynamics and poor economic backgrounds, we can not assume that they receive advice from parental figures. Therefore we support our students during the critical transition period after 8th grade through our Futures Program.
